A meals combat is breaking out on the Gramercy Park Resort. At the least it might if Danny Meyer might get into his restaurant there.
Meyer’s Union Sq. Hospitality Group has sued Solil Administration for refusing entry to Maialino on the floor flooring of the lodge, 2 Lexington Avenue.
The once-bustling eatery has been caught in a battle between two distinguished landlords. The case traces again to 2003, when Aby Rosen’s RFR Holdings took over the lodge. Rosen’s landlord was Solil, which owned the bottom under it.
In 2009, Meyer signed a lease with Rosen’s group to hire the restaurant house within the lodge. Maialino was buzzing alongside till the pandemic hit, at which level Rosen closed the lodge it was in and stopped paying hire.
As Rosen fell practically $1 million behind, Solil Administration sued in April 2021 to terminate the lodge’s lease and accumulate the $79.5 million Solil stated it was due underneath the long-term deal.
That authorized battle ended this June, when Solil received the case and the sheriff booted Rosen from the closed lodge, the place Solil alleged the iconoclastic developer had let his mom keep without cost (which he denied).
