Right now is the fifty fifth Earth Day! How will you be marking the event?
Welcome again to Sustainability Avenue, our podcast on the intersection of economic actual property and the world we dwell in. For this particular Earth Day episode, I interviewed Marta Shantz of the City Land Institute. Marta is co-executive director of ULI’s Randall Lewis Heart for Sustainability in Actual Property and a fount of data about CRE’s reckoning with local weather change.
The theme of this 12 months’s Earth Day is “Plastics vs. the Planet,” so Schantz and I mentioned how CRE is progressing with the round economic system and different impact-reducing methods and alternatives. It is a important time for CRE sustainability. Corporations are being extra “strategic” than ever about attending to internet zero and being greener general, Schantz mentioned, whereas having to cope with anti-ESG and now anti-DEI sentiments.
Right here’s a pattern of what you’ll hear:
Tactical sustainability (1:17)
Leaders and laggards (2:39)
Landlord & tenant collaboration (4:30)
ESG, DEI and greenhushing (6:22)
Round methods and future-proofed buildings (9:25)
The IRA and untapped alternative (13:21)
